Alto Broker-Dealer Application Update and Issuer Program Pause

We are excited to announce that our application for broker-dealer registration has been submitted to FINRA. This registration will establish Alto as a broker-dealer for private placements, allowing us to offer additional services to issuers and our IRA investor clients.

Given the strategic importance of the registration, we are pausing investments into non-integrated issuers as we reallocate resources towards meeting new registration requirements and completing technology upgrades. We want to assure you that this pause is temporary and that we have full intentions to re-engage with more streamlined investor and issuer experiences. Read below for more details.

Program Pause FAQs

What does pausing investments into non-integrated issuers mean?

Alto is pausing investments into any issuer that is not integrated with our platform via API.  Investors can place new or additional investments with our integrated partners.

Will Alto continue to enable payment of capital calls on an active investment until the full investment amount is called?

Yes, Alto will continue to enable capital calls to be paid on an active investment until the full investment amount is called.

Can investors invest more capital into an active investment?

Yes, investors will be able to contribute additional capital into an active investment.

Why is there a pause?

We have made the decision to pause investments into non-integrated issuers as we reallocate resources towards meeting new broker dealer registration requirements and completing technology upgrades. We want to assure you that this pause is temporary and that we have full intentions to re-engage with more streamlined investor and issuer experiences. Alto’s mission to democratize access to alternatives through retirement accounts has not changed and we look forward to staying in touch and providing updates on these enhancements in the coming months.

What are the benefits of Alto’s future broker dealer license for an investor and/or Investment Partner?

Alto will be able to introduce investors to specific partner offerings.

What is the timeline for when the pause will end?

At this time, we are still determining what the timeline will be since we are early in the license process and in the technology upgrades that we will be implementing.  We will certainly keep your team posted as we have more concrete information for resuming our work together.

Do my investors have to transfer their current investments out of Alto?

No - Alto can still fully support your investor’s current investments. Within the dashboard, they can invest more capital into an existing investment, fulfill capital calls, update valuations, retrieve statements, transfer assets, and make contributions.

Why should my investors keep their investments at Alto?

While we may not be able to facilitate new investments into non-integrated issuers temporarily, we offer transparent, industry-low fees and our platform is only getting better! During this pause, we are taking this opportunity to improve our platform in ways that optimize the future broker-dealer service while we continue to provide superior service to existing clients.

What can investors invest in during the pause?

Investors can place new or additional investments with our integrated partners. Further, investors can pay capital calls or contribute additional capital to an existing active investment.

Stay up to date on our broker-dealer registration and product enhancements!
